Ever felt like you’re just moving in autopilot but your day-to-day routine feels forced and unstimulating? You’ve put certain goals and milestones on a pedestal, applied yourself diligently to get there, but you’re just not feeling it anymore?
This has been me for a while and I’ve finally allowed myself the breathing room to pivot.
Starting with my content, including this newsletter. Welcome to the new format! I’d love to know what you think so reply to this and let me know your thoughts.
‘Aha’ moments of the week:
Every week I’ll drop 3 things I’ve learned and an action that can be applied to it so that you can commit to implement at least one this coming week. I’m a massive fan of action and accountability and aim for this newsletter to be that for you.
1.) I watched the most insightful video from someone called Myron Golden where he broke down the 4 levels of value in society: 1st level is implementation (doing the work) → 2nd level is unification (management) → 3rd level (aka where wealth starts to be created) is communication (resource you use here is your mouth. Create messages that move the masses) → 4th level imagination (people who come up with the best ideas, and then communicate it to people that manage the people who fulfil the ideas). One of the mindsets to master is focusing attention above the 3rd level. We’ve got to master delivering value at a higher level, not delivering more value at a lower level.
ACTION: If we spend 80% of our time above the third level and 20% at the first two, then we’ll be operating at a higher level and developing the mindset of solving bigger and better problems. Redesign your weekly schedule to reflect this ratio (or get as close to it as feasible for you).
2.) I can bet you any money that if you look at your bookmarks, IG saves, TikTok favourites or YouTube 'Watch later’ playlist - you are sitting on a GOLDMINE. There’s so many gems we learn on the internet and we save them with every good intention of coming back to them later, but rarely ever do. The key is to create some sort of note-capture system. One that captures what you’ve learnt, what you think of as a result of what you’ve learnt of and what actions you’re going to take.
ACTION: Create a note-capture system. I use Notion, here’s my template for free :) Duplicate it and save to your workspace if you want to use it.
3.) PSA that I am the self-crowned queen of ChatGPT. Every day I’m in awe of new prompts I’ve discovered and another way it’s made my life 10x easier. Did you know you can use it to learn pretty much any skill? There’s just under 5 months left of the year which is more than enough time to learn a new skill. This can be for leisure/general learning purposes or a high-income skill so you can start 2024 with a gameplan to boost your income.
p.s. if you don’t believe me, Google the 20-Hour rule and you’ll find it takes about 20 hours of deliberate and focused study/practice to become reasonably competent in a new skill. Reasonably competent is better than beginner, which means a beginner would be happy to pay you :)
ACTION: Choose a skill you’ve been wanting to learn or a pick a high income skill (coding, video editing, social media, sales, SEO etc). Watch this video and use these prompts to be able to go into 2024 saying: “I know how to [insert chosen skill]”.
Resource spotlight
Each week, I’ll handpick a valuable gem(s) - a book, video, tool, or any other valuable resource - that I think is not commonly known (I’m also the queen of finding unearthed gems) but will truly educate, inspire or help you in your journey in some way.
‘The Dip’ by Seth Godin - On the topic of knowing when to pivot and when to completely quit, this book explores the concept of strategic quitting and knowing when to persevere through challenges or when to quit and move on to something better. The main idea of the book is that in every pursuit, there’s a "dip" - a temporary setback or difficult period that occurs before significant progress can be made. It's the point where most people give up because they see it as a dead end or an indication of failure.
If you’re lazy (like me) you can watch the book summary or ask ChatGPT to summarise the key learnings. Either way the info is gold.
If you liked this newsletter, please share it with someone you know would find this sort of stuff useful :)
